Classic Rock Coffee Co, Kalyani Nagar: First Look

classic rock cafe, pune

A coffee shop? A pub? Or a concert venue moonlighting as both? You’ll be asking yourself these questions as soon as you enter Classic Rock Coffee Co. The first franchisee of the famous coffee branch from the USA, the classic-rock themed café wants to change the way you drink coffee (and other spirits!) and listen to rock music.

AMBIENCE
This is not your usual laidback coffee shop, but then it was never meant to be. With 15,000 sq ft at its disposal, Classic Rock Coffee Co uses only part of it as an indoor seating area while the rest remains open, alternating between a pub, concert space and a dance area.

ClassicRockCoAmbience

It’s clearly meant to cater to music, and especially rock music, fans. Graffiti dedicated to rock artists welcomes you as you walk in, and the seating area is designed to resemble piano keys. There is a dedicated amphitheatre with luminescent artwork of Freddie Mercury and The Beatles. The refurbished blue Ambassador in the corner, which will soon be the in-house grill, caught our eyes too. The pièce de résistance though is the Probatone 5 Coffee Roaster, making the café the only place with a live roaster in the country.

FOOD + DRINK

On paper, it might be a coffee shop, but Classic Rock Coffee Co’s bar snacks had us singing a very happy tune. We started off with the layered Bacon Wrapped Pesto Chicken (Rs 300) – which was accompanied by a remarkable pesto dip, and then moved on to the highly addictive Crunchy Homemade Chicken (Rs 200). For those who like their starters light, the Watermelon & Rocket Salad with Feta Cheese (Rs 280), and the hot and cold Broccoli Cappuccino (Rs 150) are great options. The Paneer Sheek Mozzarella (Rs 250) and the Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms (Rs 250) are perfect if you need a cheese fix and want to steer away from meat. For seafood lovers, the delicious Prawn Skewers (Rs 300) are going to be an absolute treat. The creamy and extra cheesy Mushroom Stuffed Ravioli (Rs 350) and Spaghetti in Red Sauce (Rs 350) are decent options for mains. Sweet Child of Mine (Rs 200), a martini glass filled with Tiramisu was perfectly creamy and thankfully, not too sweet!

ClassicRockCoffee

What’s a café without some coffee, you ask? A cuppa of Double Espresso (Rs 100) was the perfect digestif. For those who like their coffee sweet and iced, the Sweet Emotion Frappe (Rs 200) with chocolate and caramel sauce is a good pick.
